After the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), (border) rivers stopped being rivers to become borderwalls or infraestructures of the Nation-State. This performative gesture invokes the specters of the borderlands, and their human and non-human communities, to question, to trouble, to jolt the narratives that naturalize border territories (dessert, rivers, oceans) like killing-machines of the nation-state.
